Dear parents and carers,
As you may know, this year Effra has been working to promote STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths) with our young learners.
We are really pleased to tell you that Effra Nursery will be taking part in British Science Week March 13th-17th. We will be looking at materials and their properties, with a big focus on recycling. Effra has been chosen as a flagship school and we were also successful in getting a start up grant from British Science Week to help fund our event.
British Science Week 2017
We have booked an exciting show followed by an interactive workshop at 1.00pm on Wednesday 15th of March. This is being delivered by “Timezones Education” and will be about recycling and materials. If your child does not attend at that time, then you are invited to bring them in at 12.45 for the show. Just let your key person know you plan to attend.
We will also be doing a series of related off-site trips; we will be visiting Western Riverside recycling plant on Tuesday 14th and 21st March. For this trip we will take two small groups of children who will be identified by their key person. Then throughout the summer term we will be taking groups of children to the Southbank to explore engineering structures and the river. You will be informed by your child’s Key person when it is their turn to attend a trip.
To make trips possible we need to have parents and carers who are able to join us on visits. Please let your key person know if you are potentially available to help out on trips.
